FRESH FRESH FLOWERS.

{This is a sponsored post from FreshFlowers.com.au}

I’m not going to beat around the (flower) bush. This is a sponsored post from FreshFlowers.com.au, which I giddily agreed to because ONLY HEARTLESS EVIL SICKO’S WOULD SAY NO TO FREE FLOWERS!!!

So yes, as a bit of background, FreshFlowers.com.au are an Australian online florist who are primarily Sydney-based but who have started delivering to Melbourne (my town!) too. I ordered the “Florist’s Pick” bouquet ($69.95) because I wanted to see what exactly a florist would pick. In all honesty, I’m a bit of a flower snob. Whenever I have ordered flowers online for friends or colleagues, I’ve always googled “Boutique Designer Florist” because I think it’s worth paying a gazillion dollars for white netting, hessian and brown paper. <- Idiot.

I was pleasantly surprised when this enormous bouquet arrived at my desk – my work mates all wondered who had bought me flowers (um.. me?) and it did come wrapped in some pretty delightful wrapping (see my Instagram for proof). The ordering process was super easy and all went without a hitch. I had one enquiry, which I e-mailed through and received a response almost immediately.

The flowers themselves? Well whilst Gerberas are not my thing – and nor is red and purple (I like my flowers void of colour) – these have definitely brightened up the house immensely and had their fair share of oohing and ahhing from visitors. Would I order again? Yes. Have I reconsidered my stance on paying hundreds for designer bouquets? Yes, yes, yes.

GARMIN GIVEAWAY.

{Featuring my new Garmin with Jonathan Adler band}

I like to think of myself as a moderately active person. I hit the gym at least three times a week, and enjoy the occasional yoga or pilates class, mainly to combat the fact that my favourite past time in the universe is eating. Honestly.

So when I was approached to try out the Garmin Vivofit 2, I was pretty excited because a) you can now get cute Jonathan Adler collaboration bands (like the pink one pictured) and b) because I do work a standard 9-5 desk job, and I suspected I’m still not getting enough exercise in my week… much to my disappointment.

TOP 4 BUDGET LIPSTICKS FOR EVERY GIRL.

July 9, 2015

Top 4 Budget Lipsticks for Every Girl

One of the things about working in beauty marketing is that gradually, over time, one-new-product-in-the-cabinet-at-a-time, you begin to develop a slight obsession with make-up. Prior to starting this job, I had the same stock-standard beauty routine that I did day in, day out. If I was going out at night, I’d add false lashes, boom, done.

However now, I’m all about micellar water/strobing/graphic liner/highlighting/contouring, etc, etc. And having tried nearly all the drugstore/pharmacy brands of cosmetics, I wanted to share with you my top 4 budget lipsticks that I can’t get enough of.

I don’t wear lipstick every day, but I think everyone should have at least one great nude, pink, red and dark shade that always makes them feel good. One of my friends told me her secret to always looking fresh, even when she’s absolutely exhausted, is just popping on a bright lip – instant colour!

Here are my picks:

Face of Australia Lip Quench in Lychee Crush

This is the perfect pale shade of peachy/pink. If you want something light, girly and that looks excellent on most skin tones, I think this is a winner. The formula is genuinely moisturising and feels great on. At under $10, it’s also one of the most purse-friendly beauty purchases you can make.

Rimmel Apocalips Matte Velvet in Meteoric Matte

I can’t tell you how many compliments I get when I wear this shade. It’s extremely on-trend for this winter, with dark berries and plums being everywhere, but it’s not as intimidating as some of the extremely dark shades on the market. I love the consistency and the brush makes it super easy to apply. I also find this shade makes teeth look whiter, who doesn’t want that?

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Audacious

Chubby sticks are so in this year and I can see why. Moisturising and smooth to glide on, the pigment isn’t as strong as some of the other formulas, but it lets you build it up to whatever you like. When it comes to reds, I like them to be more on the orange side – anything mandarin or tangerine is for me. I think orange-based reds are much cooler, younger and less serious.

Maybelline NY Colour Sensational Vivid in Fuchsia Flash

You can probably tell I have a thing for bold and bright. So Maybelline’s “Vivids” range is definitely for me. Though this is more a summer shade, I think it works beautifully all-year round to add a pop of colour to a black outfit. Luma Cosmetics by Jess Hart also does a fantastic bright pink!

THE CLASSICS.

{Shirt – Country Road; Shorts – Dotti; Boots – Wittner; Bag – Alexander Wang; Watch – Karl Lagerfeld; Lipstick – Sportsgirl}

The weather has finally turned it on in Melbourne and Amy and I quickly snapped these hot and sweaty pics just before seeing our boyfriends play a gig (as they play in the same band) at one of our favourite Chinatown establishments, Ding Dong Lounge. On days where I am stressing out about picking the exact right outfit for my mood (we all dress by mood, like little style chameleons right?), sometimes it’s easiest to pare it right back to the basics. I had also come straight from work this day, so it needed to be somewhat “smart”. Hence, a classic cotton boyfriend shirt (Country Road do the best shirts) buttoned all the way up, with black leather shorts and an easy red lip to add colour.

I gravitate towards orange-mandarin type reds, I just think they work best for my skin tone and hair colour and this is one of my all time favourites. Sportsgirl do incredible lipsticks, they have amazing pigment, have a great matte finish without being drying and the colour lasts and lasts. Highly recommend!

STRIPES & LEATHER.

February 8, 2015

{Hat – Cotton On; Jacket – H&M; Skirt – Portmans – Boots – Wittner; Bag – Alexander Wang; Watch – Karl Lagerfeld; Necklace – Sportsgirl}

So excited to start shooting new content for my blog again with the fab Amy Whitfield, starting with this little outfit. Hat, check. Biker jacket, check. Little Black Ankle Boots, Check. Black and White, check. This outfit is basically all of my everyday essentials, and combines my most-worn items into one look. I barely take this jacket off, since I love how it always adds a little bit of edge to even the most feminine of outfits.

I also realised this bag and watch have never made much of an appearance on my blog, despite them also being on seriously high rotation. I was lucky to be gifted this copper Karl Lagerfeld watch from WSI Watches in Melbourne’s Emporium, and this Alexander Wang bag from Matches Fashion is easily one of my all-time favourite purchases. One thing I am (slowly) learning as I get older is that when it comes to accessories, it’s always better to invest in something quality.
