THE NORTH SIDE.

When I look at photos like this, I cringe a little thinking that my outfits really haven’t changed since I was about 17… a good thing and a bad thing! I guess I am destined to be that 50 year old crazy woman still wearing flippy skirts, big boots and even bigger hats. My collection of cats probably won’t help my image either.

Amy and I took these photos in her area of Fitzroy after dinner one night. I love the area for all the gorgeous pastel coloured terrace homes and the floral bushes bursting from behind cast iron fences. It makes the ideal back drop for this super girly outfit. This top is my new favourite by the way – I love the flattering sleeves, loose fit and the surprise back of it. I’m stocking up in every colour.

THE CLASSICS.

The weather has finally turned it on in Melbourne and Amy and I quickly snapped these hot and sweaty pics just before seeing our boyfriends play a gig (as they play in the same band) at one of our favourite Chinatown establishments, Ding Dong Lounge. On days where I am stressing out about picking the exact right outfit for my mood (we all dress by mood, like little style chameleons right?), sometimes it’s easiest to pare it right back to the basics. I had also come straight from work this day, so it needed to be somewhat “smart”. Hence, a classic cotton boyfriend shirt (Country Road do the best shirts) buttoned all the way up, with black leather shorts and an easy red lip to add colour.

I gravitate towards orange-mandarin type reds, I just think they work best for my skin tone and hair colour and this is one of my all time favourites. Sportsgirl do incredible lipsticks, they have amazing pigment, have a great matte finish without being drying and the colour lasts and lasts. Highly recommend!

STRIPES & LEATHER.

So excited to start shooting new content for my blog again with the fab Amy Whitfield, starting with this little outfit. Hat, check. Biker jacket, check. Little Black Ankle Boots, Check. Black and White, check. This outfit is basically all of my everyday essentials, and combines my most-worn items into one look. I barely take this jacket off, since I love how it always adds a little bit of edge to even the most feminine of outfits.

I also realised this bag and watch have never made much of an appearance on my blog, despite them also┬ábeing on seriously high rotation. I was lucky to be gifted this copper Karl Lagerfeld watch from WSI Watches in Melbourne’s Emporium, and this Alexander Wang bag from Matches Fashion is easily one of my all-time favourite purchases. One thing I am (slowly) learning as I get older is that when it comes to accessories, it’s always better to invest in something quality.

ROSE-COLOURED WORLD.

If I had to wear one outfit for the rest of my life on repeat, it would possibly be something along these lines (although of course, ask my on any other day, and my answer would most likely change). Bell bottom flares, a drapey kimono complete with twirling-fun fringing and a vintage tank that pays homage to one of my all-time favourite bands, Fleetwood Mac.

DFO SHOPPER OF THE YEAR.

So if you had $200 and only 45 minutes, what outfit would you style? This is exactly what DFO’s Shopper of the Year competition is all about. I entered on a whim and made it to the semi-finals where we were all let loose to run around the mall like a bunch of crazy people, literally pulling on items and clothes and sprinting from store to store, before reporting back to be judged by some of the team at Bauer mags.

This is what I managed to pull together in the 45 minutes we were given – time, which may I add, absolutely flew by. I was pretty stoked to find these incredible wide-leg pants at Cue, the last pair, which miraculously happened to be my size. I didn’t really have a plan or trend in mind, but somehow ended up looking like I might just step off the stage and onto my yacht. A sunny clutch finished this transeasonal look, plus some yellow gold accessories.

I may not have won, but I sure did have fun thinking on my feet and seeing what the other contestants pulled together. One point was definitely proven and that is you can actually find an entire outfit head-to-toe and still have some coin left in the bank. Win!
