{Overalls – MRP}

I honestly can’t tell you how excited I am that spring is finally seeping it’s way into the air. As much as I adore heavy knits, layering and the simplicity of winter’s neutral colour palettes, it’s also so nice to see sunlight on my way to work and to see flowers beginning to bloom. When I spotted all of these beautiful cherry blossoms in my neighbourhood, I knew I had to snap a few pics.

So here is one of my new favourite wardrobe staples, my overalls, and it was also a super cheap thrill… who doesn’t love a bargain? MRP is one of my new fave bookmarks – on-trend and purse-friendly, I managed to pick up a few cute pieces to spruce up my wardrobe, and if you’re looking for some budget mens’ fashion, I also got Nic a few sweet threads. (I always feel sorry for guys, I feel like their fast fashion options are so much more limited than ours!)

Here’s another outfit I managed to nab!

{Fringed Skirt – Dotti; Knit: Topshop; Boots – Wittner; Necklace & Clutch – Sportsgirl}

I can’t help myself when it comes to trends. As much as I know I need to keep it simple, keep it classic, when something super fun like a faux leather fringed skirt comes along, I simply have to have it – even if it’s just for the one season. Plus, when it’s the middle of a Melbourne winter and you’re constantly scrolling through an endless stream of sunny Northern Hemisphere pictures on Instagram, you have to have something fun to wear. Thank God for purse-friendly high street stores! So here I am in my made-for-twirling skirt, a sale bargain from Topshop and a serious lack of tan.

{Boots – Wittner; Dress – Homemade; Jacket – Sportsgirl}

Introducing my favourite boots of the season (and also a tiny glimpse into the only currently tidy area of my home). Anyone who knows me would know I have a serious addiction to little black ankle boots. I have at least 12 pairs that all kind of look the same, but I know they’re different. After being the lucky winner of a Wittner Instagram comp, I was allowed to pick out a tall pair of boots, something different for me, and I couldn’t go past these bad boys.

In these pics, I have paired them with a dress I made and my fave winter jacket (fluffy, of course) from Sportsgirl. The great thing I have found about above-the-knee boots is a) they’re super warm! and b) they can look dressed up or you can just wear them over jeans or leather skinnies too.

PS. Hi Beatles!

{Coat – Boohoo; Pants – Boohoo; Top – Country Road; Boots – Wittner; Necklace – Lovisa; PomPom – Sportsgirl; Bag – Alexander Wang}

So the one good thing about freezing cold winter in Melbourne is that it brings around the opportunity to wear coats, layers and plenty of black and white. Which makes it a lot easier when I’m clinging to my doona at 7am and desperately hitting the ‘snooze’ button. Generally I will grab the easiest things to throw on, and it’s less likely to go wrong if it’s all monochromatic.

I’m loving this longline, oversized coat and these leather-look moto skinnies from Boohoo. I don’t have enough coats in my wardrobe, relying mainly on my leather biker jacket or shaggy faux furs, so it’s nice to have a new option – plus, it’s a thousand times more practical (aka. warm).

Oh, the little sign by the way is for Boohoo’s campaign #WeAreUs, mine says “I’m wearing Boohoo in Melbourne x”. I love any celebration of global street style.

{Top – Glassons; Skirt – Zara; Hat – Forever New; Boots & Crystal Necklace – Sportsgirl; Watch – Karl Lagerfeld; Bag – Alexander Wang}

When I look at photos like this, I cringe a little thinking that my outfits really haven’t changed since I was about 17… a good thing and a bad thing! I guess I am destined to be that 50 year old crazy woman still wearing flippy skirts, big boots and even bigger hats. My collection of cats probably won’t help my image either.

Amy and I took these photos in her area of Fitzroy after dinner one night. I love the area for all the gorgeous pastel coloured terrace homes and the floral bushes bursting from behind cast iron fences. It makes the ideal back drop for this super girly outfit. This top is my new favourite by the way – I love the flattering sleeves, loose fit and the surprise back of it. I’m stocking up in every colour.
